Two charged after police officers assaulted in two separate incidents

Two people, a man and a woman, have been charged with assaulting police officers following two separate incidents in Worcestershire over the weekend.

19-year-old Yasmin Carter of no fixed abode will appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on February 25 after two officers, one male and one female, were assaulted on the Cedar Road in Redditch in the early hours of Saturday morning (8 February). They had stopped their vehicle to provide assistance to two women having an argument.

The female officer was punched and male officer was bitten, fortunately neither required medical treatment.

A completely separate incident happed on Saturday afternoon (8 February) in a pub on Austin Road in Bromsgrove when a male police officer was assaulted.

James Bateman, 23, of no fixed abode will appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court this morning (Monday 10 February) in connection with the incident.

Thankfully the officer did not require hospital treatment but was cared for by the Ambulance Service for injuries to his throat and face.
