Catalytic converters stolen from vehicles

Catalytic converters have been stolen from two vehicles parked at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The thefts are believed to have happened between 10am and 12pm on Thursday 23 July.

In recent months there have been a number of reported catalytic converter thefts from vehicles in the West Mercia Police force area.

Detective Inspector Jack Taylor said: “Our investigating team are working closely with our partners at the hospital as there were catalytic thefts from the car park earlier in the year. I would like to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in car parks yesterday. I’d like reassure the community that we are working hard to prevent such crimes and will be increasing our patrols in the area of the hospital.”

To help reduce the chance of your vehicle being targeted by thieves there are prevention steps that can be taken:

Tips on how to protect your vehicle:

  • Keep your vehicle in a garage if you can
  • If you park it on a driveway, install motion activated lighting
  • Otherwise, park in a well-lit, populated area
  • Forensic security marking kits are available to mark your catalytic converter
  • Locks are also available that can be fitted to your converter
  • Use high visibility signage to deter thieves
