Assisted living apartments plan

Plans to transform a former city centre bed shop into assisted living apartments has been out forward.

McCarthy and Stone has revealed plans to redevelop the former Worcester Bed Centre in City Walls Road into 57 apartments.

The plans also include outdoor space, car parking and a restaurant.

A virtual exhibition is being held online between July 29 and August 12 with a live chat session held between 1pm and 5pm on Tuesday, August 4 where people can speak to the team behind the plans.

Matt Wills, divisional managing director at McCarthy and Stone, said: “Our plans provide a fantastic opportunity to deliver much-needed specialist retirement living accommodation on a brownfield city centre site.

“The site is ideally located for people to access local shops and services with good public transport links across the wider region.”

“We’re proposing a sensitive design that respects the historic character of the local area. We want to hear local views before we finalise our planning application.

“I’d encourage people to go online and view the virtual exhibition where they’ll be able to complete our online feedback form.”

The new assisted living apartments could sit next to another major plan in City Walls Road for 98 apartments which was backed by the city council way back in 2016 but has been subject to several delays.
